adminOn February 15th, 2022, London City Council unanimously passed a comprehensive plan to dismantle Islamophobia. Said Mayor Ed Holder, “What happened the eve of June 6, 2021, was London’s darkest hour. From that moment onward, there could be no question, racism existed in our city. Hatred had managed to take root. There was no way to deny we were somehow immune to the potential of deadly violence.” Mayor Holder also noted that “This represents the start of our work, not the end.”
Hikma wishes to express our deep appreciation to City Council for passing this Plan and to Rumina Morris, Director, Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression, for her hard work in developing the consultation process and driving the creation of the plan and getting the plan to City Council in a timely fashion.
